PKEURO Tourney Movie

The promised movie made from demos of the 16 player invitational tournament PKEURO ran a few weeks ago is now finished. The movie shows the best frags of all matches, and is nicely edited to fit. The movie is made by PKEUROs Cu3rv0, and weighs in at around 90 megs, and is roughly about 3 minutes 30 seconds long.

You can download the movie here.

Enjoy, I know I did. 🙂

Bloodline hits Newspapers

The Intel Bloodline tournament, which will find TWO British players to join the pro-gaming clan 4 KINGS is becoming more and more popular in the news.

The well-known British newspaper “The Guardian” wrote a 2 page article about the event recently, with words from 4Ks founder Tony Aldridge & The CPLs Angel Munoz. The article also gives clues towards possible future CPL sponsors. One of the future sponsors hinted was MTV, one of the biggest known names around.

This is very good news for the British gaming scene, and the world gaming scene too. The British press is well-known everywhere, and such media as BBC provide news and stories around the globe. I just hope more countries will look at this and see a trend.

Painkiller IRC Chat

PKEURO, in collaboration with DreamCatcher Games, will be holding an IRC chat evening with People Can Fly, the developers of Painkiller. During this two-hour closed chat, a select group of journalists will have their chance to ask in-depth questions to People Can Flys Adrian Chmielarz (Project Lead and Lead Game Designer) and Andrew Poznanski (Lead Level Designer). Simon Vivien (EMEA Marketing Director) and Robert Stevenson (VP Product Development and Acquisitions) both from DreamCatcher Games will also be available for questions.

Though you will not be able to actively participate in the chat, you will be able to view it in its entirety.

The Event will be held on November, 23rd at 7pm CET on the Quakenet IRC server – channel #Painkiller.euro. If you need an IRC client, you can download one free at www.mirc.com. We hope to see you all there.

CPL to use Fallen2te + no BOOH

The CPL have just let me know that they will be using default Painkiller for the Winter event and not Battle Out of Hell, due to the delay that was announced yesterday. They also said that there may be some late changes to the version used in the event, as there is a 1.4 update due sometime soon.

Aside from that, they also let it known that they will be using the tweaked version of DM_Fallen2; DM_Fallen2te.

IGN Review Painkiller: BooH

It seems IGN have had the first pleasure of reviewing the much awaited Painkiller: Battle Out of Hell. IGN seem to have enjoyed what they have seen though, which is a big plus for all you Painkiller SinglePlayer fans.

Carnage! Carnage! Carnage!

“The game is coated in supernatural Gothic madness, but you hardly noticed most of the time because somethings flying at you. When somethings not, like in the majority of the haunted orphanage at the beginning of the game, Battle out of Hell briefly transcends the modest trappings of a shameless gorefest and becomes a little bit creepy. Your flashlight flickers and buzzes and doesnt shine very far. You can hear things rattling and groaning in the distance, and torchlight flickers in a gritty, dank corridor. Then a wave of skeleton zombies teleports from the bottom of a staircase, and its on.”
You can check out the full review here and more screenshots of the game here.

*UPDATE*

Over on the DC forums, Adrian has given his reaction to the review.

[PCF]Adrian: “But generally this review is an example of something I call “game journalist mood switch”. Here in Poland I have many friends who work in gaming mags and they all have one thing in common: if the game is to their taste, they easily skip all bad things about it and focus on good.”

You can find that here.
